Sant Tukdoji Maharaj

Image
In the world we live in, the concept of ego is pervasive. We are taught to assert ourselves, to fight for our rights and to make our mark in the world. While there is nothing inherently wrong with these principles, the problem arises when we let our ego control us. We become arrogant, self-centred and unable to see beyond our own needs and desires. This is where the teachings of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj become relevant. Tukdoji Maharaj was a self-realized saint who devoted his life to serving humanity. His teachings were centred around the idea of self-realization and the need to let go of one’s ego in order to attain spiritual enlightenment. One of his most famous bhajans goes like this, “You have not made up your mind to give up your ego, and you want that God should bless you, why? Do you think God is like vegetables available in any market?” The message is clear - if we want to receive blessings from God, we need to let go of our ego. It is not enough to simply pray and perform

International Dance Day

Image
International Dance Day is celebrated annually on April 29th, and it was first established in 1982 by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI). The date was chosen to coincide with the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, who is widely regarded as the creator of modern ballet. The primary aim of International Dance Day is to celebrate dance and promote its universality as an art form that transcends political, cultural, and ethnic boundaries. Through the language of dance, people from all corners of the world can connect and express themselves in a way that is not limited by language barriers. Each year, the International Dance Committee of ITI and the Executive Council of ITI select an outstanding choreographer or dancer to write a message for International Dance Day. This message is then translated into multiple languages and distributed globally to celebrate the art form and its impact on the world. The messages vary from year to year, but they all share a com

The Power of a Dedicated Mentor in Learning Language Basics

Starting and Developing:  The Importance of Learning Before Progressing It's easy to get caught up in the desire to improve ourselves, develop new skills and abilities, and reach new heights of success. But often, we overlook the crucial first step in any journey: learning. Learning is the foundation on which we build our development and progress, and without it, we can quickly become lost, frustrated, and stagnant. Starting anything new can be daunting, and the fear of failure or the unknown can hold us back from taking that first step. But even if we overcome this fear and start, we may quickly find ourselves struggling to make progress. This is because starting and developing are two different things. Starting is the easy part; it's the development that requires hard work, dedication, and a willingness to learn. Consider the example of learning English. Many people may desire to improve their English language skills, but simply wanting to develop without first learning the b

"Make the Most of Today: Embracing the Gift of Life"

Image
Good Evening "Make the Most of Today: Embracing the Gift of Life" It's important to remember that life is not just about existing, it's about living. Every day is an opportunity to make the most of what we have, to enjoy the present moment, and to create memories that we'll cherish forever. We often hear people say things like "life is too short" or "time flies," and it's true. Our time here on earth is limited, which is all the more reason to make the most of it. We shouldn't just go through the motions or settle for a mundane existence. We have to actively choose to live our lives to the fullest. It's easy to get caught up in the routine of daily life, to feel like we're just going through the motions. But we have the power to change that. We can choose to break out of our comfort zones, try new things, and pursue our passions. We can make time for the things that matter to us, whether that's spending time with loved ones,

Who are you?

Image
"Who are you?" is a question that has puzzled philosophers, spiritual seekers, and everyday people for centuries. It's a question that goes beyond the surface level of our names, professions, and personalities. Instead, it touches on the very essence of our being and our connection to the divine. At our core, we are spiritual beings having a human experience. We are not just our bodies, minds, and emotions, but rather, we are a manifestation of the divine consciousness that pervades all of creation. We are expressions of the infinite intelligence and unconditional love that flows through the universe. To truly understand who you are, you must look within. You must connect with the divine spark that resides within you and align yourself with the universal flow of energy. This requires letting go of the egoic patterns of thinking and feeling that limit your perception of reality and prevent you from accessing your true self. When you connect with your true self, you experie

Samuel Morse: Morse Code

Image
Samuel Finley Breese Morse, born on April 27, 1791, was a man of many talents, being both an inventor and a painter. He was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts, and showed an early interest in art. After completing his studies at Yale University, he pursued his passion for painting and became a successful portrait painter. However, it was not until his middle age that Morse turned his attention to the world of science and technology. He became interested in the field of telegraphy, which was then in its infancy. Morse was inspired by the European telegraph systems that he had seen while traveling abroad and wanted to develop a similar system in America. Together with his assistant Alfred Vail, Morse developed a single-wire telegraph system that would revolutionize communication. This system used electrical impulses to transmit messages over a long distance, using a code that Morse had devised himself. This code, which became known as Morse code, was a series of dots and dash

Be Original : Your Factory Settings

Image
Be Original Your Factory Settings ---------- The human body is an incredibly complex and sophisticated machine, capable of performing a wide range of functions and tasks. However, unlike a mobile phone or other electronic devices, the human body does not come with pre-installed software or apps. Instead, we are born as blank slates, ready to be shaped and moulded by the world around us. As newborns, we are like mobile phones without software, completely empty and waiting to be filled with information, experiences, and beliefs. Over time, society installs software in the form of cultural and social norms, traditions, beliefs, and thoughts that shape our worldviews and guide our behaviour. However, as we grow older, we may begin to question whether these beliefs and values truly align with our authentic selves. We may start to feel like we are living someone else's life, and that we have lost touch with our true nature. It is important to recognize that while we cannot do a complete

Your Happiness

*Good evening!* *Your Happiness* One of the biggest obstacles to happiness is indeed relying on the permission or approval of others.  When we place our happiness in the hands of others, we give away our power and allow external factors to dictate how we feel. The poorest person is not necessarily the one with the least money or possessions, but rather the one who is unable to find joy and contentment within themselves.  Happiness should come from within, and it is up to us to cultivate it through self-awareness, self-care, and positive thinking. Of course, this is easier said than done. We live in a society that often values external validation and approval, which can make it challenging to break free from this mindset. But with practice and persistence, we can learn to find happiness within ourselves. One way to do this is by focusing on the present moment and practising mindfulness. When we are fully present and engaged at the moment, we are less likely to be caught up in worries ab

Language is a tool and not knowledge

Image
It is a Tool for communication and not Knowledge ---------- Language is an incredibly important tool for communication, allowing us to convey our thoughts, ideas, and feelings to others. However, it's important to remember that language is just that – a tool. It is not the same thing as knowledge. Many people mistakenly believe that being fluent in a language means they possess a deep understanding of the culture or people who speak it.  While language is certainly an important aspect of culture, it is not the only one. There are many aspects of a culture that cannot be fully understood simply by learning its language. For example, imagine someone who is learning Spanish solely to communicate with their Spanish-speaking coworkers. While they may become proficient in the language, they may still have a limited understanding of the nuances of the culture, such as social customs or historical events that shape the way people think and behave. It's also important to remember that l

English Language Day

Image
Today, April 23rd, marks the birth anniversary of William Shakespeare, the renowned playwright and poet who is considered one of the greatest writers in the English language.  Born in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, Shakespeare wrote dozens of plays and sonnets that continue to be celebrated and performed around the world to this day. Shakespeare's plays are renowned for their exploration of human nature and their examination of universal themes such as love, jealousy, ambition, and revenge. His works are also notable for their use of language, with Shakespeare credited with inventing new words and phrases that have since become part of the English lexicon. Some of Shakespeare's most famous plays include Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Hamlet, Othello, and King Lear, among many others. These plays have been adapted into countless films, television shows, and stage productions, and are studied and performed by students and actors alike. In addition to his plays, Sha

Avoiding sexism in your writing.

Image
In the past, when people referred to a member of a group containing both men and women (or  boys and girls), they used the pronouns he/him/his: A good doctor listens carefully to his patients. Anyone who wants to join should give his name to the secretary. Nowadays, many people feel that this usage is unfair to women. If you want to avoid the danger of seeming sexist, you can use one of the following alternatives. • Use They/Them/Their to refer back to an indefinite pronoun (anyone, somebody etc): Anyone who wants to join should give their name to the secretary. Some people object to this usage in formal styles, insisting that they (plural) does not agree in number with anyone (singular). This usage is nevertheless very common. • Make all the forms plural: Good doctors listen carefully to their patients. Those who want to join should give their name to the secretary. • Design the sentence in such a way that a personal pronoun is not needed.  For example, instead of saying 'If anyon

Journey When you travel to a place that is far away or to a place that you visit regularly, you go on/make a journey (NOT do/have):  ‘You can’t go on a journey to Alaska without making careful preparations.’  ‘The journey to work takes about half an hour by train.’  ‘If the roads are flooded, we’ll have to make the journey by boat’  ________ Trip  When you go to a place and come back again, especially for a short visit, you go on/make/take a trip:  ‘How was your trip to Mumbai?’  ‘She’s away on a business trip and won’t be back until Monday.’  _________ Travel  Travel (uncountable) is the general activity of moving about the world or from place to place:  ‘She enjoys foreign travel immensely.’  ‘New computer technology has made air travel considerably safer.’  A word with a similar meaning is travelling.  This -ing form is often used after verbs and prepositions:  ‘I hate travelling on my own.’  ‘The job involves a certain amount of travelling.’ (NOT ‘of travel’)  In compou

Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna are the three main energy channels in the body according to the ancient Indian practice of yoga. They are also referred to as Nadis, which means "flow" or "current." Ida represents the lunar, feminine, and cooling energy. It begins at the base of the spine, moves up through the left side of the body, and ends at the left nostril. Ida is associated with the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for calming the body and mind. Pingala represents solar, masculine, and heating energy. It begins at the base of the spine, moves up through the right side of the body, and ends at the right nostril. Pingala is associated with the sympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for activating the body and mind. Sushumna is the central channel that runs along the spine and represents balance and harmony. It is associated with the spinal cord and the autonomic nervous system, which regulates involuntary bodily functions. In yoga, the ai
